“Fund of Funds” to Support “Breathless” Entrepreneurs … TEPAV gives support to efforts to establish a fund that brings together the business world and the public sector to support entrepreneurs who have ideas but lack financial means.

ANKARA – As the world is counting down for Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 14-20, 2011), celebrated in a number of countries, TEPAV has stepped up its work in this area.

TEPAV gives support to efforts to establish an entrepreneurship support fund that brings together the business world and the public sector in line with the targets of the Global Entrepreneurship Program/GEP Turkey it launched to improve entrepreneurial ecosystem in Turkey.

“Fund of funds” to support start-up firms

Ali Sabancı, President of the TOBB Young Entrepreneurs Board and GEP-Turkey Partner, stated that they had submitted a proposal on the mechanism called the “fund of funds” to Ali Babacan, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey.

The mentioned fund is devised in the form of venture capital to assist “breathless” entrepreneurs and that it will be supported by the public as well as the private sector.

In the context of the efforts to enhance entrepreneurship in Turkey, a series of events are planned for the Turkish branch of Global Entrepreneurship Week, which is celebrated in more than a hundred countries. The TOBB Board of Young and Women Entrepreneurs indicated the importance of the Global Entrepreneurship Forum, to be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center, which will host panel and networking activities related to the needs of entrepreneurs, from creating ideas to accessing finance.

TEPAV also supports the Global Entrepreneurship Summit to be held in Istanbul on December 3-5, 2011. The summit the first of which was held in Washington, will bring together entrepreneurs and investors throughout the world.
