TEPAV Reports the Reform Priorities of the TRNC The results of the project completed in the context of the financial and economic cooperation between the TRNC and Turkey were presented in a meeting hosted by the TRNC’s Prime Minister İrsen Küçük.

NICOSIA – TEPAV presented to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) its recommendations for economic and administrative reform. In the context of Turkish Vice Prime Minister Beşir Atalay’s visit to the island, TEPAV Director Güven Sak delivered a presentation to TRNC officials about the reform framework for the targeted reconstruction of the TRNC.

The meeting carried out under the auspices of TRNC Prime Minister İrsen Küçük was attended by senior officials including Minister Atalay; Halil İbrahim Akça, Turkey’s Ambassador to Nicosia; Ersin Tatar, TRNC Minister of Finance; Ömer Köseoğlu and Hüda Aksoy, Undersecrataries of the Prime Ministry of the TRNC; Sunat Atun, Minister of Economics and Energy of the TRNC; and Erhan Erçin, Head of the EU Coordination Center, the Prime Ministry of the TRNC. During the meeting, the results of the completed projects that had been carried out in the context of the 2010-2012 Programme for the Improvement of the Effectiveness of the Public Sector and Competitiveness of the Private Sector signed by the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC were presented. In the meeting, the TEPAV delegation presented the results of the project, titled “Functional-Institutional Review of the State in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC-FOKUS),” carried out in this context between April 2011 and June 2012.

TEPAV Director Güven Sak delivered a presentation, titled “The Priorities of Economic and Administrative Reform in Cyprus.” Sak discussed the target of the 2010-2012 program, “to restructure the TRNC to ensure self-sufficiency and to develop the skills of policy making and management,” and presented a reform framework in reference to this target.
