Employment Increased by 794 Thousand in a Year, 124 Thousand in a Month 66th Issue of TEPAV’s Employment Monitoring Bulletin is Published  

Using the Social Security Institution (SSI) data for August 2017, the 66th issue of TEPAV’s Employment Monitoring Bulletin indicates that the number of employees in formal employment increased by 5,9 percent in August 2017 compared to August 2016 and to 14 million 265 thousand. Seasonally adjusted values show that the number of employees in formal employment increased by 124 thousand compared to July 2017.

In August 2017, the number of tradesmen and farmers increased by 2,4 percent compared to August 2016 and became 2 million 754 thousand. Considering the seasonally adjusted values, decrease in the number of tradesmen and farmers was 4 thousand compared to July 2017.

The number of public sector employees became 2 million 960 thousand with a decrease of 2,7 percent compared to August 2016. Considering the seasonally adjusted values, the number of public sector employees decreased by 2 thousand compared to July 2017.
