Preparation of Turkey’s Second National Communication Project

Ongoing project (May-December 2011)

To comply with its commitments under United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Turkey is undertaking the preparation activities for the Second National Communication. These activities are taking place as a part of the "Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Turkey's Second National Communication to the UNFCCC" of which UNDP is the implementing agency and Ministry of Environment and Forestry is the main beneficiary. TEPAV is taking part in this project as the national expert for the preparation of the "Policies and Measures" and "Technology and Finance" chapters. The activities which are to be carried out in this context are:

Policies and Measures

• Policies and measures taken and changes in the existing policies and measures since the first national communication (2007) will be reported sector (energy, transportation, industry, agriculture, forestry and waste) and type of greenhouse gas (CO2, methane, HFC, PFC, SF₆ ) wise.

Technology and Finance

• Turkey's financial transfers to the developing countries and international organization will be reported
• Turkey's technology transfers to the developing countries and international organization will be reported
• Turkey's financial and technological capacity for emission reduction and adaptation for the climate change will be reported.
• The financial need for the emission reduction and adaptation activities and financial mechanisms that the Turkey can benefit for the purpose of emission reduction and adaptation will be reported.
