Ali Çufadar holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Middle East Technical University (1987), MA degree in Economics from Michigan State University (1995), and PhD in Economics from Middle East Technical University (2012).
From 1989 to 2020, Mr. Çufadar worked for the Central Bank of Turkey. He started to work in the Markets Department in 1989. He was appointed as Director of Open Market Operations in 2002, and as Deputy Executive Director of Markets Department in 2004 with the responsibilities of money markets operations, open markets operations and treasury tenders. He was appointed as Executive Director of Workers’ Remittances Department in 2011, and as Executive Director of the Operations Department in 2018. Lastly, he was appointed as the Executive Director of Banking and Financial Institutions Department in 2019 and was retired at the end of the 2020.
His areas of interests include macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal policy, financial stability, and banking sector.
Ali Çufadar joined TEPAV in March 2021 as the Director of Macroeconomic Studies Program.
