2nd Regional Development and Governance Symposium

Regional Development and Governance Symposiums contribute to the discussions on regional development in Turkey by focusing on both contemporary academic research and international experiences.

Second Regional Development and Governance Symposium were organized in Izmir with cooperation of TEPAV, Aegean University, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry and The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey on 25-26 October 2007.

In the first day of the Symposium, main discussions have been on governance issues, in terms of coordination and collective action problems and multilevel governance, design of innovation and technology policies and evolution of EU regional policies in selected countries and the second day was dedicated to the experience of two pilot Development Agencies that were established in 2006. İzmir and Çukurova Development Agencies’ coordination with the local and central actors, problems on interaction and research studies undertaken in these regions were investigated in this section.
