EU - The Economic Crisis Impact on Industrial Relations National Systems: Policy Responses as Key Recovery Tools

Commencing on December 1, 2011 the Center for Economic Development as the leading organization together with its partners the Center for Research and Policy Making (the FYR of Macedonia), Euro College of University of Tartu (Estonia), Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey, Confederation of Trade Unions (Bulgaria), Institute for Public Affairs (Poland), Institute for International Relations (Croatia) are implementing the project The economic crisis impact on Industrial relations national systems: Policy responses as key recovery tools. The project is financed by the DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

The project overall objective is to involve the research, intermediation and communication potential of national research institutes from 3 EU member states and 3 candidate countries so as to analyse the implications of the global economic crisis on the national industrial relations systems and to introduce effective key recovery tools.

The specific objectives are:

1.To boost the national policy debate between parties actively involved in industrial relations (trade unions, employers organizations, public authorities and research centers) so as to promote the active exchange of information and experience amongst them

2. To acquaint interested parties from 3 new EU Member states and 3 candidate countries with the 2010 EC Industrial relations in Europe report key contents, conclusions and recommendations so as to integrate the European and comparative terms in their national IR systems

3. To provide international platform of sharing knowledge on effective industrial relations practices so as to create networks of excellence between parties involved in the IR from 3 new EU member states and 3 candidate countries.

The main activities under the project are:

- Formation and two days meeting of the International Research Team on Industrial relations to agree on the research methodology, topics and monitoring and evaluation indicators.

Conduction of 6 national researches on the specific post crisis implications and recovery tools considered by key social partners in 3 new EU member states and 3 candidate countries.

- Organization of 6 one day national debates with parties involved in the industrial relations (trade unions, employers organizations, public authorities, research institutes).

- Translation in national languages and presentation (during the national debates) of the 2010 EC Industrial relations report.

- Organization of a 2-day international conference related to policy responses of the IR national systems to the economic crisis in 3 new EU member states and 3 candidate countries.

- Initiation of visibility actions such as 72 Web uploads, 6 press conferences and one video wall based on the individual countries video recordings. - Conduct a 5-day study trip to Brussels.
