Economist and Political Scientist Timur Kuran to Deliver the Merih Celasun Memorial Lecture

This year’s memorial lecture will also be delivered by a renowned academics, Prof. Dr. Timur Kuran, Professor of Economics and Political Science, and Gorter Family Professor of Islamic Studies at Duke University. Professor Kuran will deliver a presentation titled "Institutional Roots of Authoritarian Rule in the Middle East: Political Legacies of the Islamic Waqf."

Merih Celasun Memorial Day events, first held in 2010, invite prominent international academics to deliver lectures on the structural problems of the Turkish economy. The previous lectures were delivered by Dani Rodrik and Daron Acemoğlu.
