74th Issue of TEPAV Employment Bulletin Is Published
Using the Social Security Institution (SGK) data for April 2018 and İSKUR data for May 2018, the 74th issue of TEPAV’s Employment Monitoring Bulletin indicates that while the number of employees in formal employment increased by 678 thousand, number of public sector employees by 41 thousand in April 2018 compared to in April 2017.
The sector with the highest increase in the number of employees in formal employment (4/a) is the retail trade sector with an increase of 146 thousand. This sector is followed by construction of buildings with an increase of 139 thousand, wholesale trade with an increase of 87 thousand, food and beverage service activities with an increase of 82 thousand, public administration and defence; compulsory social security with an increase of 80 thousand.
The province in which the number of employees increased the most is İstanbul with an increase of 104 thousand. İstanbul is followed by Antalya with an increase of 67 thousand, İzmir with an increase of 64 thousand, Ankara with an increase of 62 thousand and Bursa with an increase of 30 thousand.
The highest increase took place in Ankara with 10 thousand in public employees. Ankara is followed by Isparta with 7 thousand, İzmir with 6 thousand, Balıkesir with 5 thousand and İstanbul with 3 thousand.
