The general objective of the project is to contribute to the strategic approaches to increase the competitiveness and accelerate the regional development of the TR52 Level 2 Region through sectoral analyses and strategic models specific to each sector.
The specific objective of the project is to provide models to analyze the structural properties of the members of the Konya Exchange of Commerce and to increase their competitiveness as well as increasing awareness of the members about where they are in the EU integration process. In this context, the project is being implemented to determine and provide solutions to the obstacles in the investment climate of particularly flour and milk, but also legumes, grains, seeds, live animals, meat, fed and egg sectors in Konya.
The analyses were made by way of literature review, fieldwork and focus group meetings. For this reason, Investment Climate Assessment Survey was conducted on the companies in the aforementioned sectors in Konya. Detailed analyses were made for flour and milk industries which are important to Konya, through surveys specifically designed for these two sectors.
Within the scope of the project, the following services have been provided:
- Analysis of the current situation of milk, milk products, wheat and flour sectors in the world, in Turkey and in Konya;
- Analysis of the current situation of Turkey in compliance with the EU acquis and the effect of EU integration on the Turkish agricultural sector;
- Design and Implementation of Investment Climate Surveys to the members of the Konya Exchange of Commerce which operate in the aforementioned sectors (500 surveys);
- Design and conduct of specific surveys and focus groups meetings for milk and flour producers (60 surveys);
- Assessment of survey results and determining the constraints in investment and obstacles to competitiveness;
- In light of this assessment, providing solutions to problems in the agricultural industry in Konya;
- Writing and publishing the final report.
