TEPAV Launches Competition for the Merih Celasun Award The money award in the competition for academic studies on Turkey's growth challenge is 10,000 TL.

ANKARA- TEPAV will grant the Merih Celasun Award starting in 2011 in memory of deceased Prof. Merih Celasun. The theme of this year's award is "Turkey's growth challenge." The winning study will be given 10,000 TL.

TEPAV announced that the deadline for the submission of the studies is September 15, 2011. The evaluation period will end in December 2011 and the results will be announced on the annual Merih Celasun Memorial Day.

The jury of the 2011 Merih Celasun Award will be composed of Dani Rodrik, Daron Acemoğlu, Hasan Ersel, Sumru Altuğ, Şevket Pamuk, Yılmaz Akyüz and Ziya Öniş.

The study is expected to address Turkey's growth challenge

Candidate academic studies are expected to address Turkey's growth challenge. The applicants' studies should be on a subject related to this theme, including but not limited to the following:

  • Industrial and trade policies in the era of global production, from the perspective of growth,
  • Identification of priority sectors for growth and the formulation of relevant policies,
  • The role of regional development in growth,
  • Economic policies tailored to increase savings,
  • Policies for advancing human capital and institutional infrastructure,
  • Long-term impacts of economic crisis on growth,
  • Policies to facilitate Turkey's convergence with the welfare of developed countries.
