TEPAV Wins in “the Oscars of the Think-Tank World” TEPAV’s work for the constitution studies brought it the third prize in the European Think Tank of the Year Awards 2012.

ANKARA – TEPAV won the third place in the European Think Tank of the Year Awards 2012, organized by British magazine Prospect and known as the “Oscars of the think tank world”.

The relevant statement in prestigious British magazine Prospect said, “The Prospect Think Tank of the Year Awards, now in their 12th year, set out to give credit to organisations that have led the debate among the public and government. The judges look for originality and rigour of research and argument, for selection of topics of importance, and for influence.”

The number of entries, the statement said, reached a record.

TEPAV Number Three in Europe…

TEPAV won the third place in the European Think Tank of the Year (Excluding Britain) category. Stating that the judges praised the works of other European think tanks as well, the statement said, “however, in third place, the judges chose The Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV), whose work has been influential in the debate over renewing the Turkish constitution. The development of think tanks and public policy debate in Turkey is to be encouraged.”

The second and first places in this category were awarded to the Institute of Modern Politics, Bulgaria, and Bruegel, respectively.

Among other institutions that won prizes in different categories are Chatham House, the Brookings Institution, Open Europe and the Social Market Foundation.

The Judges

The judges of the contest were:

Bronwen Maddox, editor of Prospect, chaired the panel, which included Baroness Vadera of Holland Park, consultant and former government minister; Richard Lambert, chancellor of the University of Warwick, former editor of the Financial Times and member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee; Nader Mousavizadeh, chief executive of Oxford Analytica and former special assistant to Kofi Annan, the former secretary-general of the United Nations; and James Elwes, deputy editor of Prospect and former editor of Financial World, and Bronwen Maddox, editor of the Prospect Magazine.

2012 THİD Award

This year TEPAV also won a prize in the Golden Compass Awards. In the contest organized by the Turkey Public Relations Foundation, “The Erzurum Call Center Economic Impact Analysis Project” of TEPAV financed by leading GSM operator Turkcell won the “UNDP Special Prize.”

2007 Dünya Daily Awards

TEPAV received its first award from the daily Dünya. In “The Rostrum of Economics Awards,” TEPAV won the “Star of the Economy” prize. The jury chose TEPAV as NGO of the Year for its work on the Constitution Platform.
