Entrepreneurship Center Looks for Turkey’s Zuckerbergs In the context of the Startup Weekend Ankara event, candidate entrepreneurs will work through the weekend at TOBB ETÜ - GARAJ to develop their projects.

Startup Weekend, a global event organized in various countries will be held in on October 5-7 in Ankara with TEPAV’s facilitation. With the sponsorship of Google and Microsoft, the event aims to support entrepreneurship.  In the event, future entrepreneurs will team up and bring their business plans on mobile applications to the stage of production in the company with 15 mentors. During 54 hours, young entrepreneurs will be hosted in Garaj which is the entrepreneurship center affiliated to TOBB University of Economics and Technology.

Startup Weekend Ankara which will bring the mobile developers interested in startups together will be organized with the cooperation of Global Entrepreneurship Program (GEP – Turkey) which is coordinated by TEPAV and Viveka Incubation Center.

Coaching service will be offered

The event will start with opening remarks on Friday evening October 5th, 2012. With the announcement of 10 projects selected on the basis of business plan presentations, entrepreneurs will team up and start working on their projects. Young entrepreneurs will be accompanied by eminent experts on design, software and social media who will deliver trainings during the event. At the end of the working period, on Sunday, October 7th, the jury will evaluate the works on the basis of the presentations made by entrepreneurs. The projects selected by jury will be awarded.

Candidates can apply online at http://ankara.startupweekend.org/.  The main target group of the event is university students interested in entrepreneurship. Candidates are not obliged to apply with a business idea. Ongoing projects of candidates with a mobile-business idea will not be included for evaluation.

Second in Turkey, first in Ankara…

Startup Weekend is a global and non-profit event which has been organized in more than 70 countries worldwide including Mongolia, South Africa, England, Brazil etc. and has reached more than 45.000 entrepreneurs up to now. Previously held in Istanbul on December 2011, Startup Weekend will be the first in Ankara.
