ANKARA – The G3 Forum has presented the G3 Entrepreneurship Award of the Year to TEPAV. G3 is the flagship of the events during Global Entrepreneurship Week, celebrated in 123 countries worldwide with the aim of encouraging entrepreneurship among young people.

The Award, which is given to the project that has contributed the most to entrepreneurship, was given for the first time this year. The jury declared that TEPAV had won the award “for its role in raising awareness about entrepreneurship as well as for its active support of entrepreneurship.”

Taking the award on behalf of TEPAV, Prof. Ümit Özlale, Academic Adviser to the Global Entrepreneurship Program – Turkey, spoke:

“In 2012, TEPAV, with the Global Entrepreneurship Program, brought a new dimension to the international connections of Turkey’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. In May, a delegation consisting of 15 American investors and entrepreneurs met with 100 Turkish peers who were then at the bottom of the ladder.  After the delegation, a number of entrepreneurs had the chance to engage with the U.S. Again this year, we carried out a number of events including workshops for journalists, conferences, and the Startup Weekend Ankara event. In the second half of the year, we prepared a regional entrepreneurship strategy paper together with the Izmir Development Agency. We are in a continuous and productive contact with the public sector for entrepreneurship policy development. We aim to extend our cooperation with regional development agencies. We therefore will continue supporting Turkey’s entrepreneurs."

2nd Award This Year

The G3 Entrepreneurship Award of the Year was the second award TEPAV has won in 2012. Previously, TEPAV won the third place in the European Think Tank of the Year Awards 2012, organized by the British magazine Prospect and known as the “Oscars of the think-tank world.”
