TEPAV in GAZA... A delegation led by TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu and TEPAV Director Sak held meetings in Ramallah and Gaza.
JERUSALEM- A delegation led by Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, TOBB Vice Chairman Ali Kopuz, TEPAV Director Güven Sak and TOBB BİS President Ahmet Şekeroğlu visited Ramallah and Gaza.
At the first meeting in Ramallah, TEPAV Director Güven Sak and the delegation held talks with Palestine National Economy Minister Abeer Odeh. Sak gave information about the Jenin Project and Gaza urban transformation, asking for support for the projects.
The delegation later held separate meetings with Palestinian Prime Minister Hamdallah, Palestinian Minister for Public Works and Settlements Al Housani and Hamas Leader Haniye, pointing out that the Turkish private sector is willing to cooperate with Palestine and to take an active role in Gaza's reconstruction.
Latest developments in Jenin Industrial Zone
The delegation first met with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu provided information about the latest developments in the Jenin Industrial Zone project and the visit TOBB Delegation will be paying to Gaza. Hisarcıklıoğlu also stated that the Turkish business world is willing to cooperate with and support the Palestinian people and private sector.
Palestinian Prime Minister Hamdallah thanked for the help and support that Turkey has been providing to Palestinian people and stated that they are ready to cooperate in establishing an enabling investment environment in order to boost the presence of the Turkish private sector in Palestine.
Working Committee Agreement
Following the talks, under the auspices of Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, a Working Committee agreement was signed between TOBB and the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) aiming to assess collaboration opportunities between the Turkish and Palestinian private sectors and improve investment opportunities; along with another agreement facilitating the FPCCI partnership in Jenin Industrial Zone between the FPCCI and TOBB BIS.
Afterwards, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu and the delegation attended the lunch held in honor of the TOBB delegation hosted by Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chair Khalil Rezzak, where the parties exchanged views regarding increased cooperation between Turkish and Palestinian business communities.
Gaza meetings
The delegation then moved on to Gaza to meet Mohammed Al Housani, Minister of Public Works and Housing. TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed the Turkish business world’s enthusiasm to take an active role in the reconstruction of Gaza, adding however that for this, the investors seek a peaceful environment.
Providing information about the damages suffered in Gaza since the most recent clashes, Minister Housani stated that they welcome Turkey's support in the reconstruction process of Gaza. Minister Housani also thanked the Turkish government and people for their helping hand extended to Palestine.
Hisarcıklıoğlu met Hamas Leader Haniye
TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met Hamas Leader İsmail Haniye as part of the delegation’s Gaza visit. During the meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu gave information on the activities of TOBB in Palestine and reported that TOBB wishes to take on the necessary organizational efforts to bring in Turkish construction companies for the reconstruction process of Gaza.
Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry invites Turkish companies to invest
At a meeting with members of the Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hisarcıklıoğlu informed businessmen about TOBB's activities in Palestine and expressed their wish to extend these initiatives to include Gaza.
Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Waleed Khalid Housari also invited Turkish companies to invest in Gaza.
