Origin of funding: The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey
The project entitled “Interactive Applications at the Museums of Ankara” has been implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the financial support of Ankara Development Agency. TEPAV has carried out two components of the project as specified below;
- Current Situation Analysis: A comprehensive “Current Situation Analysis Report” has been prepared including the examination of how museums present themselves from past to present, investigation of the museums exploiting the advantages of new technologies and comparing their effectiveness with those not endowed with technology.
- The Impact of the Project on the Museum Tourism: Within the duration of the project, interactive applications have been set-up at the four museums of Ankara (the Republican Museum, the State Painting and Sculpture Museum, Ethnographic Museum and the Gordion Museum) by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Surveys have been conducted with the visitors at the museums before and after the interactive application setup in order to make a comparative analysis. The results of the analysis have been used as an input for the report that determines the impact of the Project to the museum tourism.
Within the scope of the project, TEPAV has provided the following services;
- Preparation of the Current Situation Analysis Report,
- Design of the survey questions to be conducted with the visitors at the museums,
- Conducting surveys at each of the four museum in Ankara with 100 visitors twice (before and after interactive application setup. 200 surveys in each museum and 800 surveys in total),
- Data entry of the surveys,
- Preparation of an evaluation report including the analysis of surveys conducted before the interactive application setup,
- Preparation of the Impact Assessment Report on the effects of the interactive applications to the museum tourism.
