The Project which aims to increase the competitiveness of TR33 Region consists of two main components. First component of the Project is to identify and analyse the structure of production within TR33 Region in order to reach the objectives and goals of increasing the competitiveness of the region as defined as one of the most important development axes in TR33 Regional Plan. The Second component of the project is to develop an Innovation Strategy for TR33 Region; since the sustainable increase in the competitiveness of the region is based on developing an innovation awareness throughout the region and the implementation of innovative policies at each stage of production.
Under these two components, TEPAV has realized the following activities:
- Identifying and analyzing the production structure of industrial sector and identifying the prominent sectors and strategies to be implemented for these sectors;
- Developing a Regional Innovation Strategy in order to enhance innovation capacity, performance and value added of the sectors within TR33 Region.
Within the scope of the project, TEPAV has provided the following services:
I. Component:
- Current situation analysis of the industrial sector within TR33 Region;
- Analysis of the production structure-level and identification of the prominent, developing and required sectors within the Region;
- Defining a methodology for identified sectors to reach desired objectives;
- Design and analysis of the surveys to be implemented to manufacturing industry firms (1417 firms) that reveals their innovation capacity, performance and perceptions for the investment climate;
- Focus group meetings with sector representatives in the Region;
- Developing policy recommendations for increasing the competitiveness of the prominent sectors within the Region.
II. Component:
- Identifying R&D and innovation capacity of the Region;
- Identifying the current status and trend of the sectors in the Region regarding R&D and innovation both at national and international level;
- Sub-region focus group meetings with public and private sector representatives in order to identify the hindrances to innovation;
- Developing an Innovation Strategy Document and Action Plan for TR33 Region.
